Instagram Stories for your Business
Online Blog, 03/07/18
More and more businesses are using Instagram Stories to promote their services and products, and there is a good reason for that. Instagram Stories hit 250 million daily active users last June and this number will definitely be rising this year. This is why we want to share six simple tips to help you be the best at your Instagram Stories.
1. Rock the first impression.
You have just a few seconds to catch your audience attention, so it's important to begin a Story by focusing on your product or service. Make sure you are using simple and clear design so your brand name stands out.
It’s always a good idea to spend some time on research and check out some brands to see what they do and HOW they do it. Here are a few brands that nail their Instagram Stories: @jcrew, @cocacola, @standardwines, @converse, @tacobell, @real_simple, @starbucks, @spotify, and @southwestair. These brands will get you inspired and will, hopefully, spark some ideas that will help you to make your brand's stories memorable and addictive.
2. Set goals and objectives.
Don’t forget to define your goals and objectives before investing your resources into Instagram Stories. What do you want to achieve by using Stories? Do you want to increase your website traffic? Get more video views? Attract more leads?
3. Be relevant.
Once you know what you want to achieve, you can begin to create your relevant content. We advise to draft content for a few weeks ahead and adjust it as you go. Remember to modify your content during the holidays and based on what is happening in the world. (Monitor news daily.)
4. Make it fun.
Make it fun and utilize visual features available to make your content more appealing. Add music, boomerangs, stickers, filters, GIFs, etc. If you have more than 10K followers, you can tag a link to your website in your story. (Note: include call to action in your story text to direct your followers to access the link). Play around with your stories, then analyze your impressions/feedback and engagement to understand what did or did not resonate with your audience.
5. Study the Rules of Instagram Stories Ads.
Before starting your Instagram Stories Ads campaign, you need to know what audience you want to target (remember about Facebook's Pixel, current followers, retargeting options, etc.). Also, you have to make sure to adjust your Stories to recommended dimensions and do the Stories placement correctly (don't do automatic placements, you know your audience better than Facebook ;)). Here is one of the tutorials on Instagram Ads that you will find helpful.
6. Instagram Story is about a story.
Whether you are sharing a sneak peek of a product launch, doing 24-hour sale promotion, or taking your followers behind the scenes of your business or life (if you are a blogger), you always need to tell a story that will catch your audience's attention.
“We are all storytellers. We all live in a network of stories. There isn’t a stronger connection between people than storytelling.” – Jimmy Neil Smith
